I could not live without a kitchen scale. To count calories, I am always weighing and measuring while cooking. I own several, in case one does not work or the batteries die.
I don't think the brand of scale is all that important. Just make sure it can measure ounces and grams and uses double or triple A batteries. Some scales use watch type flat round batteries and you probably don't have those at home and can be hard to find.
