I love roasting a whole turkey so I can have turkey meat all week long.
To prepare my turkey before I cook it, I rub extra virgin olive oil on the entire outside and season all sides with garlic powder, sea salt, and black pepper. I then fill the cavity and stuff it with red onion, sweet onion, garlic cloves, thyme, and rosemary. This gives the turkey and amazing flavor.
I roast the turkey in the oven at 325 degrees, 20 mins for each pound, but only use that as a guideline. I always check the turkey with a thermometer. It should be 165 degrees in the breast and around 180 in the thigh when done.
